Seattle Grunge Inspired Couples Session - Mariya & Brian

beer, good music & friends

Beer + Good Music + Good People = the best times! It’s a pretty simple equation that made Mariya and Brian’s couple session in downtown Seattle so much fun! We met up at one of my favorite south Seattle neighborhoods to hang out and capture some great moments of the two of them.

When I was first imagining this shoot for Mariya and Brian I knew that the location needed to embrace who they are personally. Mariya and Brian are avid vinyl collectors and love all types of music. They love living downtown with their two sassy Chihuahuas (though they didn’t join us for this shoot) and they have a deep appreciation for the music and history that shaped the Seattle area in the 1990s. Mariya also texted me that she wanted to wear her new Doc Martens to the shoot, thus the grunge-inspired shoot was born!

Once some of the details started coming together I knew the location I had in mind would be perfect. The neighborhood is surrounded by old brick factory buildings that have recently been revived into shops and breweries. The new businesses in the area have done a wonderful job balancing the new with the old architecture and have embraced the rough industrial charm of the original neighborhood. This neighborhood has been one of my favorite Seattle locations to shoot at since I was in high school. It’s just the coolest neighborhood.
